Children under 12 are admitted to the event free when accompanied by an adult. So this year we are including a kids play area called the “Land of the Leprechauns”. For one $10 price kids can play in the “Land of the Leprechauns” all day and have unlimited access to all the rides. Kids 5 or under get in for only $5. Rides include the Super Slide, the Adrenalin rush, Giant Moon Bounce, the Crazy Caterpiller and there will be a free game booth with prizes. There will also be face painting, balloon art and puppet shows. The entrance price for the “Land of the Leprechauns” enables the kids to unlimited rides between 1pm and 5pm. Be sure to purchase your “Pay one Price” bracelet when entering the Fair.
There will also be cultural activities for adults such as the Irish music “seisiun” where people are encouraged to bring their instruments and participate; with adult set dancing and performances of Irish Dancing throughout the weekend. We have 3 Pipe Bands participating and Sunday’s events will begin with a Catholic Mass at 11am. Over the 2 days we will have free lessons available in the Bodhran (Irish Drum), Tin Whistle and Irish History lessons. We will also have several pubs located throughout the fairgrounds to help quench your thirst should the need arise.
Saturday’s sashing ceremony will be very special this year as we honor the family of the recently departed Jack Meade. Jack was the fair chairman for the past 5 years and had been with the Fair since it’s inception in 1999.
Other activities for the kids include Mr. Met and the FDNY Smoke House on Saturday. On both Saturday and Sunday there will be free face painting and hair coloring and King Henry the Clown will be around as well as Lolly Flop The Clown. The Dodge Astro MobileVision 61″ Flat Screen Moble Unit will also be on scene for the kids to play Nintendo Wii.
